How this shortlist works
Quick Shop matches the exact engine family and lifter/core type, then ranks available profiles by your working RPM and driving goal. Your catalog’s application ranges are used where available. Any competitor comparison is labeled as an estimate. Missing or conflicting specifications are not silently filled.
The fuel-mileage screen uses −20° to −5° nominal overlap at .050″ and an approved starting-RPM cutoff of 1,600. Towing uses an approved starting-RPM cutoff of 1,800. It is a screening preference, not a fuel-economy guarantee. Goal-based RPM defaults only order candidates; enter your actual RPM to refine the shortlist.
Nominal overlap = (intake duration + exhaust duration) ÷ 2 − (2 × LSA), using tappet duration at .050″. Actual supplied valve events take precedence. Profile-specific converter requirements take priority. Where those are missing, Redline’s general overlap guide supplies a stall range for review. Negative overlap and wider LSA do not automatically approve a particular stock converter. If you want to keep a stock converter, otherwise eligible cams with unconfirmed suitability appear as conditional choices for Redline review. Add to cart becomes available only after this requirement is confirmed; known converter conflicts remain excluded.
Valve lift uses the profile’s reference rocker ratio or the ratio you supply. Every cam still requires installation checks, including retainer-to-guide/seal, coil-bind and piston-to-valve clearance. RPM, overlap and LSA cannot establish physical clearance, vacuum, fuel savings or detonation resistance.
